ABOUT ME
Whitney Asher,
Founder & Strategist
Having worked at Capitol Records and iHeartMedia, armed with a Masters Degree in Strategy & Business from the nationally-ranked VCU Brandcenter, Whitney is passionate about helping bands and brands connect with audiences in an effective way.

Driven by measurable results and the desire to make a difference, Whitney leads with heart while focusing on the steps it takes to help clients achieve success.

Founded in 2015, Sound Wave Strategy (SWS) has served over 250 clients, previously operating under the name, "The Marketing Mixtape." Rebranded in 2025, SWS is focused on empowerment through business education.

With 15+ years of professional experience, Whitney has worked with grammy-award winning artists including Jason Mraz and NF as well as “The Voice” Contestants, iHeartRadio, SoundStripe, Xbox, NASCAR, CamelBak, CarMax, SPARC & 200+ musicians of all genres & stages of their career. In addition, Whitney sits on the Board of Directors for Kid Pan Alley, a nonprofit dedicated to rekindling creativity as a core value in education through collaborative songwriting experiences.​

Whitney has been a speaker at the DC Wammies Music Conference, East Coast Music Conference, Indie Pods United Summit and has led workshops with the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), Virginia Organization of Composers and Lyricists (VOCAL), Music Production for Women (MPW), and at recording studios which include Red Amp Audio, Black Iris, In Your Ear & Blue Room DC.​ She is the founder of a community service concert series, Rhyme & Reason, as well as the RVA Writer's Rounds, which began in 2018.​
Balancing work with play, Whitney enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, writing, thrifting, exploring new places & starting the day with a good morning routine. While she deeply values structure, she also likes going off the script every once in a while.
